Why Returnables?

Arganica believes that using returnable and reusable packaging is a smart and easy way to reduce waste and help protect our environment. That’s why we have built a system for the home delivery of food and beverages that integrates the use of returnable packaging and containers as much as possible.

Our returnables system requires the active participation of all members. But don’t worry, it’s easy! By joining Arganica, you agree to participate in our returnables system. Here’s how it works:

The Basics

The Arganica returnables system requires a small, refundable security deposit for returnable and reusable packaging, as follows:

• Crate Liners: All food & beverage orders are packed inside a returnable crate liner. Made of insulated cardboard or other materials, returnable crate liners make packing more efficient. Crate liners require a $2.10 refundable deposit on every order. Credit for returned Crate Liners are applied to your subsequent order.
• Gel packs: To help keep food fresh and beverages chilled during delivery, we add frozen gel packs to your food order. Gel packs require a $.50 refundable deposit each on every order. We estimate 4 Gel Packs are needed to ensure proper temperatures in each order, but are used at the discretion of our team when fulfilling the order, depending on the size and contents.  Credit for returned Gel packs are applied to your subsequent order.
• Bottles & other reusable containers: Our returnables system also includes milk, oil, and seltzer bottles, and other containers made of glass or other reusable materials. If a refundable deposit is required for a food/beverage item, the amount is indicated on the weekly order form.

All returned bottles must be rinsed clean!

The System In Action

We have recently introduced crate liners and gel packs into our delivery system, and no longer leave our signature wooden Arganica Crates at your premises until further notice.

The Arganica delivery person leave the Crate Liner with your custom order at your premises according to your delivery instructions and will collect your empty crate liner, gel packs and other returnables you received from Arganica with your previous delivery. All you have to do is to leave these returnable items out for our delivery person to collect.

Membership Termination

At the end of your Arganica Membership there are many options available for full credit of all returnables:

1. On your final delivery, you may elect keep the returnables and forgo your final returnables deposit.  The Gel Packs can be used for any picnic—they are biodegradeable and food safe.  Please recycle the crateliner.

2. You may request a final home pickup for a fee of $10

Please note that we accept all empty crate liners, regardless of the condition they are in. Broken bottles will not be accepted.

Additional Terms

By agreeing to an Arganica membership and delivery of returnables, the customer automatically agrees to return these items at the earliest possible opportunity, preferably during the customer's next scheduled delivery cycle or within one month following termination of membership. Without explicit customer communication, no credit will be provided for items not returned within four delivery cycles (approximately one month).

All items used in the Arganica returnables system are the property of Arganica or its suppliers and Arganica considers the customer as “custodian” of the delivery vessel until such vessel is returned to Arganica.
